Bai kaprow, Bai manglak, Bai horapa

This fantastic herb is well know for it's fragrance and use in many western dishes. There are three varieties of this plant found in Asia differing in appearance and flavour.

Holy Basil known in Thailand as Bai kaprow is used in cooked dishes with chicken, fish and beef.
Bai horapa nearest Europen equivalent is Sweet Basil. Is often eaten raw with other herbs in wrappers such as spring rolls eaten with dips. It is often used in curries and stir fry dishes.
Bai manglak is lemon scented and sometimes used in fried seafood dishes. The seeds are soaked in water until swollen then mixed with coconut milk (nam maproa) to make a dessert
